My daughter is 15 and working toward getting her driver’s license. One of the requirements is 50 hours of driving experience with a licensed driver. Her sister, now 17, had to complete the same number of hours. While there can be some nail-biting moments, like when they drive on the highway for the first time, I have come to count those hours as a gift. It is one-on-one, quality time that is sometimes hard to find. The conversations we have had are priceless. I miss those drives with my now 17-year-old who independently drives to school, work and to hang out with friends. They grow too fast. Maybe we should bump those hours up a little?! Just a thought! For now, I will cherish what remains of those 50 hours.
